Writing Better

Training on how to write well that is specific to medical writing is hard to come by. Available learning materials mostly focus on preparing scientific articles rather than on the mechanics of writing. The March issue of Medical Writing is dedicated to the theme of Writing Better. It includes a workbook of nine chapters, each including explanations, examples, and exercises with answers. We all have something to learn!

Also included in the issue are the results of the 2016 EMWA member survey conducted this last summer. More than a quarter of EMWA members responded, which is a pretty good turnout. The results of the survey will be used to help guide EMWA’s on-going projects and future plans. The Executive Committee thanks everyone who responded and wants to say to all members, “You are being heard!”

Upcoming issues of Medical Writing will be on Medical Devices (June), Observational Studies (September), and Preclinical Studies (December). Although the deadline for the Medical Devices issue has passed, feature articles can still be submitted for the issues on Observational Studies (deadline June 12) and Preclinical Studies (deadline September 11).
