Plans for the November 2021 EMWA conference

Dear EMWA members,

We are writing to tell you our plans for the November 2021 conference.

Sadly, we have concluded that we will not be able to run the conference in Cascais, Portugal in November. Our priority has to be our members’ health and safety. We made this decision in the light of the continuing uncertainty about the COVID-19 situation, which makes it difficult for speakers, workshop leaders and delegates to commit to travelling to Cascais, and the tight restrictions on activities set by the venue.

This is very disappointing because we know many of you were very much looking forward to being able to meet other EMWA members face-to-face. HOWEVER, for November, we are planning an exciting new concept, a hybrid conference:

Thursday, 4 November 2021 – Hybrid Conference Day

• A face-to-face conference day in London that will be open for our local EMWA members to attend (to avoid international travel). We aim to run the EMWA conference opening ceremony and seminars from the UK location and live-stream them to all EMWA members joining virtually.

PLUS

• Local face-to-face networking events in selected European cities with opportunities to live-stream the London-based EMWA conference day.

5 to 21 November 2021 – Virtual Workshop Programme

Similar to past EMWA virtual conferences, all workshops will be presented in a virtual format.

With this hybrid conference concept, we hope to take the first steps towards a new EMWA conference setup and at the same time provide local networking opportunities to our members within country-specific COVID-19 regulations.

We will send more information soon, but in the meantime, if you are interested in supporting a local networking event in your area, we’d be very pleased to hear from you as soon as possible. We aim to provide financial and PR support for the networking events. Contact info@emwa.org.
