EMWA's 57th Conference – Valencia: Call for Abstracts
The Scientific Organising Committee is inviting abstract submissions for the 57th Annual EMWA Conference in Valencia, Spain. Abstracts must be based on original research, case reports or reviews and relate to any field of medical writing, communications, editing or translation (encore abstracts are allowed if presented in relevant conferences in H2-2023 or H1-2024); structured (Introduction, Methodology, Results, Conclusion) and include fewer than 250 words (excluding title, authors and affiliations); submitted in English (UK spelling); submitted by e-mail to:
emwaconference@emwa.org by 25 February 2024, 17:00 GMT by the presenting author.

Valencia Conference News
EMWA’s 57th Conference is fast approaching! This Spring, medical writers from all over the world will gather in vibrant Valencia for 7th-11th May to network, learn, and, of course, have fun. There will be workshops, seminars, the getting into medical writing session, social events, and much more. We will provide more details as soon as they are available.
Today, we will let you know about a new addition to EMWA’s Professional Development Programme (EPDP) sessions: the Expert Discussion Groups (EDGs). These are highly interactive sessions for medical writers who are experienced in a given topic, destined to promote lively debates and mutual learning. The moderator of the EDG will prepare a short presentation to kindle the participants’ knowledge, after which there will be ample opportunity for interaction, exploring several avenues of the topic in question. The aim is to provide expert medical writers a place where they can further their knowledge, thus filling a gap in the professional development of experienced professionals.

Getting into Medical Writing Day in Valencia
Exciting news for all our new and aspiring medical writers! The Getting into Medical Writing (GIMW) Group is organising an entire day dedicated to everyone interested in medical writing, considering it a career option, or taking their first steps in this career path. We know how important it is to understand the field, network with other professionals, and have the right resources to get their foot in the door.
After the success of the New Career Guide for Medical Writers, the GIMW group created an entire day for newbies to learn from experienced medical writers and network with them. Who knows when your first opportunity will show up? Come and join us on this day full of educational and networking opportunities. So, if you are a new medical writer or interested in the field, or you know someone else who is, don't miss this opportunity and spread the word.
The GIMW Day will take place on Wednesday, May 8th, so keep an eye on the upcoming conference registration for more detailed information.

Guess what? Valencia, the location of EMWA’s Spring conference, was recently awarded the title “2024 European Green Capital”. This honour recognises Valencia’s achievements in inclusive green transition (97% of its citizens live within 300 metres of urban green spaces), sustainable tourism, climate neutrality, ecosystem restoration, and sustainable and inclusive food production. Yet another reason to attend EMWA’s Spring Conference!
